Computer slow?? How about a spring clean to boost your machine and breath a new life into your computer. Save money, don't buy a new one when you can upgrade.
Increase the RAM
RAM is the memory a Personal Computer(PC) uses to run programs. The larger your RAM, the quicker your software loads up and runs. (Most PC's can handle a maximum of 3Gb of RAM although newer PC's can handle as much as 8-16Gb of RAM.) Try the memory scanner at www.crucial/uk to identify the memory you require.
Use Windows VISTA ReadyBoost
This tool allows Vista ready computers to employ USB memory sticks (fast USB2.0 memory is best) as extra RAM. This option is not as fast as using genuine RAM as the USB acts like a temporary disk for the PC to read and write to and from. This option can be a lot cheaper, and it is far easier to do yourself.
An additional Hard Disk.
As you hard disk reaches capacity your PC will eventually slow to a crawl as the system struggles to read and write the many necessary temporary files in the confined disk space left. You can delete name of the temporary files, defrag the drive and streamline TO A POINT. Clear as much off as you can. If you still need space, the price of internal and external USB/Firewire/SATA drives are ever decreasing, and they will give you that added space for little cost.
Update your Software.
Remember, those nagging messages to install options and update versions in Windows and other software on your PC may be a pain, and you often ignore them. Pay full attention to these messages as they can be beneficial to the smooth running of your system. If necessary prepare to spend one evening updating all the little bits on your system and restarting your PC. It's all worth it!
Upgrade your Windows Software!
This does sound daunting. It's easy, and we can backup your important data and install a new version on your system within hours. Those on Vista might benefit from installing the more nimble version 7 of Windows. It's officially available from October 2009 from £70 upwards (some recent buyers of Vista PC's may qualify for a FREE upgrade).
